Did you know that you can make Pluto more convenient to use by customizing the grid to display your favorite channels? Or add programs to a watch list in the On Demand section? It’s easy to do and makes it a lot easier to find your favorite programming.
Getting to Know Pluto TV
You’re probably used to watching Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and other streaming video services that charge a monthly subscription fee. Pluto TV is a little different in that it’s a totally free service, supported by advertising. (That means your programming gets interrupted by commercials, just like with broadcast television.) Still, free is a good thing—especially if you’re trying to watch your monthly expenditures.
Also, unlike most other services, Pluto streams all of its content “live” so that you tune into a channel and watch what’s currently showing. It offers more than 250 channels in a scrolling program guide, as well as on-demand programming that you can stream at your leisure. You can watch Pluto TV on all major streaming media players, most smart TVs, Android and iOS devices, and in your computer’s web browser at www.pluto.tv. And it’s all completely free!
Personalize Pluto by Creating a Personal Account
At first glance, Pluto’s 250+ channels of programming can be a little overwhelming. Pluto does organize its channels into program groups like Movies, News + Opinion, Comedy, Classic TV, and the like, which helps a little. Still, you have to scroll through a lot of channels to find the one you want to watch.
You can ease this problem by favoriting the channels you watch most often. To do this, you first have to create and sign in to a personal account. Unlike the paid services, a Pluto account is totally free; you just have to supply your email address and a password. You can also use Pluto without signing in, but you won’t be able to save your favorite channels and on-demand watch list.
To create a personal account, follow these steps:
Click the Account icon in the top right corner of the screen. Click Sign Up. Enter your email address, desired password, birth year, and first name. Click Sign Up to finalize your account.
You can now sign in to your Pluto account from any device you’re watching. Just click the Account icon, click Sign In, and enter your email address and password. All your favorite channels and watch list programs will follow you from device to device.
Add Your Favorite Channels to the Channel Grid
Scrolling through Pluto TV’s massive channel grid is a pain. Instead, make your most-watched channels your favorites, easily accessible from the Favorites tab at the top of the channel guide.
To favorite a channel, follow these steps:
Select Live TV and start watching the channel you want to favorite. Display the playback controls at the bottom of the screen. Select the Add to Favorites (heart) icon.
Your favorite channels now appear in the Favorites tab, at the very top of the channel guide. Select this tab to go directly to your favorite channels, bypassing the hundreds of other channels in the guide.
Add On-Demand Favorites to a Watch List
You can also add your on-demand favorites to your own personal Watch List. This way, you can go directly to your Watch List programs rather than browsing or searching through the thousands of programs that Pluto offers on-demand.
To add a program to your Watch List, follow these steps:
Select On Demand. Browse or search for the program you want to watch. Select Add to Watch List.
To go directly to the programs in your Watch List, select On Demand and then select the Watch list tab. Select a program to start watching it!
